Newcastle United

In a clear demonstration of the power of karma something is stirring on Tyneside. After losing their local hero Andy Carroll to the Devil's team Liverpool the lord is repaying the city with a music scene that is premiership quality. Already this year I've featured three brilliant bands from the Newcastle area (The Longsands, Mausi and Grandfather Birds) and there are so many more that you could create a whole blog dedicated just to the Newcastle scene.

With all this evidence pointing to a renaissance on the Tyne the Devil decided to scratch the surface of the Geordie scene to uncover the bands that are leading the push to the promised land.

Mammal Club
Mammal Club combine the odd harmonies of Geordie scene forefathers The Futureheads with Arcade Fire like bombast and shoegazey guitar histrionics. It's an almost religious experience.
