You'd be forgiven for thinking that with a name like Skinny Girl Diet are a loud, gang of riot grrrl feminist politicos on a mission to batter you into submission. But you'd be completely and utterly wrong. The London based trio are much more sophisticated than that. Yes there is a slight feminist edge to their sound but it's subtle, more Warpaint than Huggy Bear.



On tracks like the sensual Sunburn, the skeletal Mermaid Veins and the noisy Insomnia they weave intricate, bass heavy, post punk patterns, hypnotic vocals and grungey guitars into sublime, occasionaly sprawling songs that wander the line between the Slits and the Au Pairs.



There's a raw, unproduced, half formed quality to the Skinny Girl Diet sound that I love.
