Do The Charleston

This came completely out of the blue. Charleston are a trip hop trio from London who have less presence on the internet than a technophobic hermit. Their only presence seems to be a Soundcloud site with just one track, Piece By Piece, on it. No myspace (not unusual these days), no Facebook no Last.FM, no Tumblr, no Bandcamp, not even a Twitter. Well at least none that my googling skills can uncover.

They're as close to invisible as you can get in the age of world wide ubiquity. In the case of Charleston less is most definitely more. Piece By Piece sounds like it spent it's formative years in Bristol being raised by Portishead and Tricky. It's about regressing to a primal like state, forgetting everything you have formed or established. It's about slowing the pace of the world for a moment and simply being human. Yeah it's idealistic and yeah it's hard to see how they can survive and thrive as a band without the on-line accoutrements that have become essential to making your voice heard in an increasingly wired world but doesn't it lift your heart just a little to discover a band willing to try?
